In a significant move towards modernizing regional road infrastructure, Kazakhstan has temporarily installed a system of active laser notification on the Astan-Temirtau highway, near the village of Oshagandy. This innovative technology, aimed at combating one of the most common causes of nighttime accidents, is designed to help drivers stay alert and react faster to situations.

The device, currently operating in test mode, projects bright light lines directly onto the road. These laser lines are intended to reduce the risk of accidents due to fatigue, inattention, or poor visibility. The main goal of this innovation is to prevent nighttime accidents caused by driver drowsiness, a common issue that often leads to tragedies on the roads.

The laser technology creates a stimulating visual effect to attract drivers' attention, prevent loss of concentration, and promote alertness at the first signs of fatigue. The reaction to these signals is several times faster than to conventional road signs, making it an effective tool in enhancing road safety.

The installation at Oshagandy in the Karaganda region was the first of its kind in the country. The press service of the Karaganda region police department noted that the use of the new laser technology will help reduce accidents and increase safety on the Astan-Temirtau highway.

Similar systems have been tested abroad and have shown effectiveness, decreasing the number of accidents by up to 40-50 percent. The evaluation of the test runs of the laser attention system in Oshagandy, Karaganda, will be conducted under the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan in late 2025.

The installation and testing of this technology in Kazakhstan is being reported by the website "KazAvtoZhol". The device is intended to improve road safety by providing a more noticeable and quicker means of communication to drivers. This is the first watch of such technology in Kazakhstan, marking a significant step forward in the country's road safety initiatives.
