Honda Proves Passport's Toughness with 30m Crane Suspension
Honda has showcased the robustness of its new Passport SUV in a daring demonstration. The vehicle, capable of towing over 6300kg, was suspended 30 metres in the air by a crane, highlighting its strength and safety features.
The Passport shares its underpinnings with the Pilot SUV and Ridgeline pickup, powered by a 212kW 3.5-litre naturally-aspirated V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. In a recent test, the recovery points on the highest Passport held more than 6300kg, demonstrating its impressive towing capacity.
Honda proved the toughness of the new Passport by dangling three of them from a crane. The vehicles were safely lowered using specialized equipment and coordinated team efforts, ensuring no damage to the vehicles or injury to personnel. Each recovery point is capable of supporting twice the Passport's weight, showcasing a 'closed loop recovery system' for added safety.
The Passport TrailSport and TrailSport Elite models are the first Honda 'light truck' models to feature exposed and easily accessible heavy-duty front tracking points. Honda has reinforced the Passport for off-road use, with a 72 percent increase in front lateral rigidity and a 50 percent boost in rear torsion rigidity.
The Passport's impressive towing capacity and reinforced structure make it a robust choice for off-road adventures. With its exposed tracking points and 'closed loop recovery system', the Passport ensures safety and peace of mind for drivers.
