IBM collaborates with e& to bolster AI governance and compliance regulations
e&, a leading technology and digital services company, has announced a collaboration with IBM to deploy an end-to-end AI and Generative AI governance solution. This partnership marks a significant step in e&'s AI governance journey, setting a new standard for responsible and scalable AI operations.
The new solution, which integrates IBM's watsonx.governance toolkit with e&'s governance frameworks, offers robust AI lifecycle management, compliance, and scalability. It features centralized AI lifecycle governance, proactive AI risk and security management, automated, trustworthy, and dynamic compliance mechanisms, and a Trusted AI framework.
The centralized AI lifecycle governance manages AI programs and model life cycles end-to-end with automation, ensuring seamless management of AI deployments. The proactive AI risk and security management tools safeguard AI deployments from vulnerabilities, while the automated, trustworthy, and dynamic compliance mechanisms ensure regulatory and internal adherence. The Trusted AI framework supports strategic AI development and deployment customized for clients' compliance needs, including detailed responsible AI program implementation.
The solution also provides scalability and innovation capacity, future-proofing AI governance programs to handle increasing data volumes and user demands. Benefits of the solution include establishing effective governance of AI programs at scale, ensuring enterprises meet evolving regulatory and internal mandates seamlessly, supporting innovation, enhancing transparency, trust, and control over AI initiatives, and reducing risks associated with Shadow AI and poor governance practices.
Shukri Eid, the general manager of IBM in the Gulf, Levant, and Pakistan, stated that the collaboration addresses key governance challenges and reduces risks associated with AI. Dena Almansoori, the group chief AI and data officer at e&, stated that the collaboration ensures transparency, explainability, and efficiency across AI operations.
The collaboration builds on the existing relationship between IBM and e&, including a joint report titled "MENA's AI advantage: Opportunity to leap ahead and lead." IBM Consulting's expertise in AI implementation is also part of the collaboration. Persona and journey mapping, market research, architecture patterns for AI integration, and knowledge transfer materials will be part of the deployment.
The solution uses IBM's watsonx.governance enterprise AI and data governance platform, which facilitates dynamic monitoring, offering real-time insights into model performance, risk scoring, and compliance metrics. The collaboration strengthens the long-standing partnership between IBM and e&, and it emphasizes the importance of advocacy for trustworthy AI in the Middle East and North Africa region.
While the specific details on e&’s unique role are not explicitly outlined, the general IBM collaboration framework focuses on integrating technology and governance expertise to drive secure, compliant, and scalable AI adoption, which likely includes e& leveraging such solutions within their ecosystem or clients.
This alliance leverages IBM’s advanced technology (watsonx portfolio) and e&’s industry experience (aligned with KPMG’s Trusted AI framework as an example), creating a transformative approach for enterprises to deploy AI with strong governance.
