Independent reporting on the autonomous esports sector by Better Collective

Better Collective, a leading iGaming and sports media company, has announced its decision to separate the esports segment as a standalone business unit from Q2 2025. This strategic move is aimed at capitalising on the rapid growth, profitability, and unique engagement of its prominent platforms, HLTV and FUTBIN [1][2][3].

The esports segment, which contributed €20 million to Better Collective's revenue in 2024 with a profitability margin of 60%, will be led by these platforms [2][3]. HLTV, a major media and community hub for Counter-Strike, averages hundreds of millions of monthly page views and unique users, driving core revenue via advertising and sponsorships [2]. FUTBIN, on the other hand, boasts an impressive 80% market share in its category and supports EA FC players with extensive real-time databases and tools. FUTBIN is shifting towards premium content partnerships and direct brand deals, enhanced by Better Collective’s tech acquisitions [2].

This separation is expected to bring several benefits. Improved investor visibility will be achieved through reporting esports independently, allowing clearer insight into its financial performance [2][3]. Faster product and feature innovation will be possible as separating the esports segment creates room to invest more rapidly in new content, features, and partnerships customized for deeply engaged esports communities [3].

Jesper Søgaard, Better Collective co-founder and co-chief executive, sees esports as a key future growth area. He emphasises the rarity and value of owning two influential community platforms that are deeply embedded in esports culture [3]. Søgaard believes that by establishing esports as its own segment, Better Collective can unlock the full potential of its communities [3].

In June, Better Collective recorded 540 million monthly page views, demonstrating its strong presence in the esports scene [4]. Better Collective has a rare opportunity to serve millions of passionate esports fans and grow alongside the scene. The platform will publish its Q2 2025 interim report, including the first separate esports disclosure, after market close on 20 August [5].

This strategic focus on separating the esports segment aims to provide investors and partners with clearer visibility, accelerate product development, and enable faster innovation tailored to esports fans [1][2][3]. With HLTV and FUTBIN leading the way, Better Collective is well-positioned to capitalise on the growing esports market and deliver value to its fans, partners, and shareholders.
