The Chinese automaker Chery is set to make a significant stride in the electric vehicle market with the global launch of its flagship software-forward SUV, the iCAUR V27, on August 1, 2025. Initially, the launch will take place in Dubai, with a worldwide rollout to follow [1][3].
The iCAUR V27 is an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) that combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine used as a generator with electric motors. This innovative powertrain offers both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options [1][3]. The all-wheel drive version delivers an impressive output of up to 335 kW, while the rear-wheel drive variant is also available. The electric-only range under pure electric mode is approximately 200 km, with the extended range enabled by the gasoline engine [1][3].
Key specifications of the iCAUR V27 include a body size of approximately 5 meters in length, with a wheelbase of around 2,735 mm (similar to the V23 variant) [1][3]. The SUV also boasts off-road capabilities, with an approach angle of up to 43°, a departure angle of 41°, and a ground clearance of 210 mm for the all-wheel drive model [1].
Fast charging is supported, with rapid charge from 30% to 80% taking approximately 30 minutes. The iCAUR V27 also features a 3.3 kW external power output for devices [1].
Meanwhile, Chery's Rely X5 SUV is also making waves. The 2.0 turbocharged version of the Rely X5 will have a base price of 135,800 yuan, and the turbocharged version is expected to cost a few thousand yuan more [2]. The current 2.0 engine of the Rely X5 produces 125 kW of power, and it will feature an automatic transmission, specifically a 4-speed unit [2].
In a different development, the Jetour Shanhai L7 Plus PHEV is set to launch in August, with official images already unveiled. Details about the power output, transmission, and weight of the L7 Plus PHEV are yet to be disclosed [4].
Lastly, it's worth noting that the Chery Fulwin T11 is a 6-seater EREV vehicle, not a SUV as previously reported. The Fulwin T11 features a 1.5L range extender and is expected to launch with specifications such as its weight and other details to be announced soon [5].
