The automotive world is buzzing with excitement as BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, unveiled a special edition of the BYD FCB Ti 3, named "Black Myth: Wukong", ahead of its debut. Meanwhile, the Denza Z, another highly anticipated electric vehicle from BYD, is progressing towards production, with key details being gradually disclosed.
The Denza Z electric convertible two-door coupe is confirmed to feature the Disus-M suspension system, an advanced electronic vertical body control that adapts to road conditions using sensors with a 10-millisecond response time. This system, derived from the Disus-Z chassis used by the Yangwang U7 sedan, promises a smooth and responsive driving experience.
While the Denza Z's core specs, such as range, battery capacity, exact power, and pricing, remain mostly unrevealed, there is speculation that it may use a 580 kW (778 hp) electric motor, similar to that powering the BYD Han L and Tang L models. However, this information is not yet confirmed.
The Denza Z has been spotted in a convertible prototype featuring a soft-top electric roof and advanced interior technology, including a large digital display and ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) cameras. This convertible version, with its foldable steering wheel designed to create extra driver space in a collision, poses a threat to the MG Cyberster from SAIC in the premium electric sports car market.
The Denza Z sports car was first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025. Since then, it has been seen during road tests in China, with the pre-production Denza Z cabriolet following the design language of the concept car. A photo of the Denza Z soft top leaked online on July 29, giving a sneak peek of what's to come.
Modern BYD cars, including the Denza Z, support the function called two-gun charging, allowing the BEV to charge from two connectors simultaneously. This feature, along with the Denza Z's advanced technology and premium design, positions it as a strong contender in the electric vehicle market.
Despite the excitement surrounding the Denza Z, no official launch date has been published yet. However, the fact that the car is being tested in convertible form suggests that production readiness is approaching. Stay tuned for more updates as BYD moves closer to releasing this exciting new electric sports car.
