Here's the lowdown: Jeff Bezos, the man behind Amazon and our chairman, has unveiled a new selling plan that could see up to 25 million of his Amazon shares hit the markets by 2026. This drops on May 29, 2026, under specific conditions. The estimated worth of those shares? A whopping $4.75 billion, given the current share price.

Speaking of, the numbers game: Amazon's stock ended at a hefty $189.98 a share on May 2, according to Nasdaq data. So yeah, we're talking serious dough here.

The FT spilled the beans: This announcement drops just a few hours after Amazon revealed its quarterly financials for 2025. The company isn't looking too hot, claiming the global trade war instigated by President Donald Trump could lead to their net sales and operating profits missing Wall Street's expectations. The Financial Times (FT) chimed in, stating a considerable chunk of Amazon's revenue from third-party sellers and advertising comes from Chinese sellers, which could take a hit due to the aforementioned trade war.

Been there, done that: Now, this isn't the first time Bezos has offloaded his Amazon shares. The FT shares that he sold roughly $13.4 billion worth of securities in 2024. He's currently focusing his attention on Blue Origin and The Washington Post. The FT reports that Blue Origin clocks an annual spending of over $2 billion, with federal contracts covering only some of the costs, leaving Bezos to foot the rest of the bill.

Fact of the matter: Blue Origin is secretive about their financials, and the FT's requests to Bezos for comment went unanswered. However, it's said that The Washington Post has lost subscribers following Bezos' efforts to better his rapport with President Trump.
