JK Tyre Explores OEM Integration for Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
JK Tyre, a leading Indian tire manufacturer, has seen a surge in demand for its Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) among two- and three-wheeler consumers. The company is now exploring opportunities to integrate this technology into Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) dashboards, marking a shift from its traditional aftermarket role.
Anshuman Singhania, the Managing Director of JK Tyre, is currently in negotiations with major vehicle manufacturers like Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors to incorporate the TPMS into their vehicles. This move aligns with JK Tyre's strategic goal to transition from an aftermarket player to a primary OEM supplier for tire pressure monitoring systems.
The TPMS, available under the JK Smart Tyre and TREEL brands, offers consumers the advantage of optimizing tire usage and enhancing safety. For JK Tyre, it provides valuable data for product improvement and innovation. Currently, the company offers an aftermarket TPMS that can be retrofitted to existing tires. However, the next generation of JK Tyre's TPMS will be embedded in tires directly from the factory, further enhancing its appeal and functionality.
JK Tyre's TPMS has proven popular among consumers, leading the company to explore OEM integration. Talks with major vehicle manufacturers suggest a promising future for this technology. By embedding TPMS in tires from the factory, JK Tyre aims to provide enhanced safety and data-driven innovation to its customers.
