Kazakhstan Launches Second Line on Dostyk - Moyynt Railway, Boosting Capacity Fivefold
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has inaugurated the launch of the second train on the Dostyk - Moyynt railway, a significant project that has been underway for nearly three years. The new train, built on an existing, extremely busy section without interrupting train movement, is part of a larger reform program aimed at modernizing and digitizing Kazakhstan's railway network.
The construction of the second train, which involved laying 836 kilometers of track in harsh climatic conditions, was a major technical challenge. However, it has resulted in a fivefold increase in the capacity of the Dostyk - Moyynt train, allowing up to 60 train pairs daily. This expansion is expected to reduce delivery times of export goods and increase reliability and safety.
The launch of the second train is not just about increasing capacity; it is also about embracing modern technology. The president has stressed the importance of digitization in the coming years, including the implementation of predictive pathway diagnostics systems and digital twins of stations and sections. This is part of a larger reform program that includes constructing 5,000 km and repairing 11,000 km of roads, and implementing AI in various aspects of the railway system. The Mainline Network Directorate is ready to carry out these orders, with the Dostyk - Moyynt train being just a part of this comprehensive plan.
The completion of the second train on the Dostyk - Moyynt railway is a testament to the dedication and hard work of thousands of railway workers, engineers, and builders. The new train not only increases capacity but also paves the way for the integration of modern technologies, setting the stage for a more efficient, reliable, and safe railway network in Kazakhstan.
