Kazakhstan Unveils Digital Transformation Plan: New Fund, Ministry, City

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has outlined a digital transformation plan for Kazakhstan. This includes establishing a Fund for Digital Assets as a strategic cryptoreserve, creating a Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Code, and launching Alatau-City, a digital city under direct government management. New laws on banks, construction, and taxes are expected to support these initiatives.

Tokayev's address to the nation emphasized the digital transformation of the country within three years. The state is pursuing a course of digitalization, protection of business, and sustainable development. Special attention is being paid to Astana to address migration-related infrastructure and quality of life challenges.

The Committee for the Return of Illegal Assets is being renamed to the Committee for the Protection of Investor Rights. This reflects a shift in focus towards protecting investors. Additionally, the President has proposed switching to a unicameral parliament to enable more agile and effective lawmaking.

Kazakhstan is embracing digital transformation with the establishment of a Fund for Digital Assets and the creation of a Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Code. The launch of Alatau-City signals a commitment to direct government management of digital spaces. These changes, along with expected new laws and a proposed unicameral parliament, aim to drive sustainable development and protect investor rights.
