Tubi and Kickstarter Team Up to Aid Indie Film Creators
Kickstarter Collaborates with Tubi to Bolster Global Independent Film Creators
Get ready for a paradigm shift in independent filmmaking! Tubi, the popular streaming platform, has teamed up with crowdfunding powerhouse Kickstarter to create a unique support system for independent movie producers. From fall onwards, over 20 films that resonate with Tubi's passionate fanbase will premier exclusively on Tubi, as announced by The Verge.
Tubi also plans to support Kickstarter's FilmStream Collective Fund, which is dedicated to aiding budding filmmakers in completing their projects. Both parties will be streaming 10 crowd-funded flicks exclusively on Tubi for a whopping three months post-production.
Everette Taylor, Kickstarter's CEO, described the partnership as an organicextention of the company's mission to uplift creators, saying, "Together, we're crafting a novel avenue for filmmakers to share their masterpieces with the world and receive the recognition they deserve."
Anjali Sud, Tubi's CEO, emphasized the organic boost the Kickstarter-backed films will receive once they're featured on Tubi.
The partnership doesn't disclose the exact number of films to be distributed, their availability dates, or the monetary commitment from both parties to the FilmStream Collective Fund.
Who's Eligible for Support?
Filmmakers aiming for support must launch their Kickstarter campaign between the present day and August 31, 2025, as stated by Kickstarter.
In May 2024, Tubi launched the Stubios program, enabling creators to cultivate films and series with the potential to stream on Tubi, provided they garner sufficient fan engagement during the public development phase. Last October, four Stubios projects were greenlit, and Tubi announced a fresh wave of creators to initiate work on new Stubios ideas.
