KLM Welcomes First A350 Simulator in Netherlands, Preparing for 2026 Fleet Expansion
KLM has taken delivery of the first Airbus A350 simulator in the Netherlands, built by CAE in Montreal. The simulator, too large to pass through the main gate at Schiphol-East, was hoisted over the fence for installation. It will prepare KLM pilots for the arrival of A350 aircraft in the fleet by the end of 2026.
The simulator was designed and built by CAE in Montreal, where it was developed specifically for KLM. It supports safe and efficient operations, reflecting KLM's commitment to innovation and sustainability in global aviation.
The A350, set to join KLM's fleet, is constructed with advanced materials like composites and titanium. This enables longer flight ranges while lowering emissions. The new aircraft is also quieter, producing up to 40% less noise and using 25% less fuel than earlier models. KLM's investment in modern aircraft and state-of-the-art training technology ensures its pilots are prepared for the future.
The first group of KLM's A350 pilots will begin their training on the new simulator in the coming weeks. The simulator's arrival marks a significant step in KLM's long-term strategy to modernise its fleet and improve sustainability. It underscores the airline's dedication to innovation and safe operations.
