BYD Cars Philippines has made a significant stride in the local automotive industry with the launch of the Tang DM-i, a seven-seater plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Adam Hu, the Country Head of BYD Philippines, emphasized the company's vision, stating, "With the Tang DM-i, we aim to show how electrified mobility can be seamlessly integrated into the everyday lives of Filipino families."

The Tang DM-i, the largest SUV in BYD's local electrified lineup, is positioned to bring BYD's Super DM-i technology to the family vehicle segment in the Philippines. This innovative vehicle utilizes a Super DM-i system, which features a turbocharged internal combustion engine, an electric motor, and a 21.5 kWh Blade battery. The system aims to maximize electric driving while offering long-distance capability, delivering a total output of 271 PS and 315 Nm of torque.

Key range figures for the vehicle include 110 kilometers on pure electric power and a total combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers in PHEV mode. The Blade battery can be replenished from 30 to 80% in a rapid 22 minutes via DC fast charging, and AC charging takes approximately three hours.

The Tang DM-i boasts a practical and technologically advanced interior, featuring a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system. It is also equipped with the BYD DiPilot system, a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera system, placing it in the Level 2 assisted driving category.

Adam Hu, the country head of BYD Philippines, is responsible for leading the company's operations and initiatives such as the launch of the BYD Tang DM-i electric SUV in the Philippines in 2025. The vehicle is priced at P2,098,000 ($36,614) and will be a part of the local electrified lineup of BYD Cars Philippines.

BYD Cars Philippines provides substantial warranty coverage for the Tang DM-i. This includes an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty for the Blade Battery, an 8-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty for the electric motor and control systems, and a 6-year or 150,000-kilometer new vehicle warranty. The Tang DM-i also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, enabling the vehicle to power external electrical equipment.

The Tang DM-i will be featured at a BYD Tech Tour event at SM Clark, Pampanga, from September 18 to 21, 2025. The vehicle is available in three colors: Moonstone Gray, Pearl White, and Silver Sand Black. With its combination of practicality, technology, and environmental responsibility, the Tang DM-i offers a compelling choice for Filipino families looking to embrace electrified mobility.
