Litecoin's Price Skyrockets by 11%, Securing the Second Position in Cryptocurrency Payment Rankings

In the dynamic world of cryptocurrencies, Litecoin (LTC) is making significant strides in 2025. Polymarket data suggests an 81% probability of an LTC ETF approval, fueling optimism among investors.

The digital currency's market cap currently stands at $9.17 billion, with a 24-hour trading volume of $1.89 billion. Litecoin's price is trading above the 20-day and 50-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) at $102 and $109 respectively, indicating a bullish trend. Bollinger Bands show Litecoin is riding the upper band, signifying upward volatility with little resistance in sight. Strong support lies at $111 and $102, key EMAs that previously acted as resistance.

The rising adoption and usage of Litecoin for payments are driven by multiple factors. Litecoin offers quicker transaction confirmations and lower fees (around $0.03), making it ideal for microtransactions and cross-border payments, which merchants and consumers favor over Bitcoin and Ethereum for everyday use.

Data from 2025 show Litecoin as second only to Bitcoin in crypto payment volume on platforms like CoinGate, with a 14.5% share. This reflects higher real-world usability and merchant willingness to accept LTC payments.

Large investors and institutions have significantly increased LTC holdings in 2025. Notable entities like MEI Pharma allocated $100 million to Litecoin, supporting its credibility as a stable digital asset. ETF filings by firms like Grayscale and Canary Capital also underpin growing institutional interest, expected to boost capital inflows if approved.

Litecoin benefits from clear regulatory classification as a commodity by the US CFTC, enhancing its appeal to compliant financial institutions and distinguishing it from newer altcoins with uncertain status. LTC's integration with widely-used platforms such as PayPal, Venmo, Telegram Wallet, Travala, and BitPay facilitates spending LTC like cash, further increasing practical utility and user adoption.

In July, Litecoin accounted for 14.5% of all crypto payments on the CoinGate platform, with Bitcoin (BTC) leading the pack with a 22.9% share. Litecoin is currently testing the upper boundary of a well-defined ascending parallel channel near $124. In the past 24 hours, Litecoin reached an intraday high of $124.90, a 11% increase.

Since inception, Litecoin has processed over 340 million transactions, with more than 12% of those occurring in 2025 alone. With its growing adoption for payments, strategic institutional interest, and a supportive regulatory environment, Litecoin is positioned as one of the best crypto to buy in 2025.
