Samsung is set to make waves in the tech industry with its upcoming Unpacked event, where the tech giant is expected to unveil several new devices, including the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 7. This foldable smartphone is rumoured to boast a series of significant improvements and design changes, making it a major contender in the foldable market.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to feature a 6.5-inch external OLED cover display, a welcome increase from its predecessor, with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The internal folding panel, approximately 8 to 8.2 inches, will be slightly larger than the previous model, offering a more expansive viewing experience.

One of the most exciting aspects of the Fold 7 is its anticipated slimming down. When unfolded, the device is expected to measure around 4.2mm in thickness, making it one of the thinnest foldables on the market. Folded, it will be 8.9mm thick, a significant reduction from the Fold 6. The dimensions will also increase in height and width, approximately 158.4mm tall and 143.1mm wide, but the overall weight will be lighter than the Fold 6, around 215g.

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite "for Galaxy" chipset, the same found in the Galaxy S25 series, delivering improved CPU, GPU, and AI processing capabilities. RAM options are likely to include 12GB, with a possibility of a 16GB variant for select markets.

The main rear camera is expected to receive a major upgrade to a 200MP sensor, a significant leap from the 50MP sensor on the Fold 6. The ultrawide and telephoto lenses are anticipated to stay at 12MP and 10MP, respectively. The external selfie camera will likely remain a 10MP shooter, while the internal selfie camera might forgo an under-display sensor for a traditional 10MP sensor with a 100-degree field of view.

Battery life is expected to be impressive, with leaked EPREL labels suggesting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will offer about 40 hours of battery life. Details on longevity, durability against drops, water and dust resistance (IP rating), and repairability are yet to be fully detailed.

Samsung is also expected to integrate enhanced AI capabilities linked to its Galaxy AI platform, particularly tied to camera functionality.

In summary, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 aims to deliver a thinner, lighter, and larger foldable design with a much-improved main camera, the latest Snapdragon chipset with advanced AI, a smooth 120Hz external display, and solid battery life, marking it as a major upgrade in Samsung's foldable lineup.

Alongside the new devices, Samsung is likely to announce the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch Ultra 2, One UI 8, and the latest version of One UI Watch. The company has also opened up its Galaxy Reserve program, offering $50 in credit and savings up to $1,150 on new devices.

The Unpacked event is expected to take place shortly, leaving fans and tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting Samsung's latest offerings.

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is speculated to feature a 200MP main camera, a significant upgrade from its predecessor, showcasing Samsung's commitment to technology and smartphones, particularly gadgets like the Fold 7. Aside from the improved camera, the Fold 7 is anticipated to boast a slimmer design, a larger internal display, the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and a 120Hz external OLED cover display, all aiming to enhance user experience.
