First International Computer Inc Unveils Tycoon TVB00: A Responsive Windows 7 Tablet

First International Computer Inc (FIC), a Taiwan-based company, has announced the launch of the Tycoon TVB00, a Windows 7 tablet designed to address common grievances with touchscreen environments. The new device is set to make a significant impact in the tablet market, according to Leo Chien, the chief operating officer at FIC.

The Tycoon TVB00 boasts several performance and user experience improvements tailored for touchscreen environments.

Performance Improvements

The tablet includes specialized touchscreen drivers optimized for Windows 7, reducing latency and improving touch accuracy compared to generic drivers. It also supports precise multitouch gestures, enabling smoother pinch-to-zoom, rotate, and swipe actions, with minimal input delay. The device is designed with better power efficiency in touch interactions, prolonging battery life during intensive touchscreen use. Integration of GPU acceleration under Windows 7 enhances the rendering of touch input effects and UI animations, resulting in a more fluid experience.

User Experience Improvements

The Tycoon TVB00 offers advanced calibration tools ensuring touch inputs are accurately mapped, reducing frustration and increasing usability in varied lighting and usage conditions. It leverages Windows 7 native touch capabilities, including press and hold for right-click, flick gestures, and handwriting recognition in tablet PC Input Panel. Users can adjust sensitivity, tap duration, and gesture recognition to tailor the touchscreen response to their preferences or specific applications. The screen is designed for better visibility and responsiveness to finger input, with reduced glare and optimized touch surface materials, enhancing both accuracy and comfort. The tablet also supports active stylus input, improving precision for note-taking and drawing applications, broadening its usability in professional environments.

The Tycoon TVB00 features a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, 2GB of DDR3 memory, a 120 GB hard drive, and a 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen, weighing 840 grams. It will be available for sale in Taiwan from November 13th, with a price tag of NT$19,800 (approximately US$657). FIC aims to sell 3,000 units before the end of 2010. The Tycoon TVB00 will be sold through the U-Life TV shopping channel, with Vibo Telecom Inc as the telecom partner.

With its focus on responsiveness, accuracy, and user-tailored touch interaction, the Tycoon TVB00 offers a competitive Windows 7 tablet solution, improving overall productivity and satisfaction in touchscreen contexts.
