From March, the killer attended five shooting training sessions with rental weapons at a Graz shooting club. Since mid-May, he had a weapon permit card, attesting to a passed psychological fitness test, as per police records.
Despite the permit, the shooter had not attracted police attention previously. However, his military ambitions were dashed when he was rejected for conscription in the Austrian Armed Forces due to psychological unsuitability.
