In a move to cater to the growing demand for flexible payment options, MegaFon has announced the introduction of interest-free installment plans for purchases made through its online store and mobile app. This development is part of the broader trend of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services that are gaining popularity both in Russia and globally.

The new feature allows MegaFon subscribers to obtain a spending limit and use it for paying orders in the MegaFon online store. The limit amount for purchases can be up to 149,000 rubles, and no commission is charged for periods up to 3 months. The repayment terms for the interest-free installment plan can range from 1.5 to 12 months.

The convenience of this service is further enhanced by its integration with the MegaFon Life mobile app, which is already a popular platform for digital services including purchasing communication services, paying bills, transferring money, and buying tickets. This integration means that users can now easily access the interest-free installment plan directly from the app.

Interest in BNPL services is on the rise, driven by the increasing popularity of online shopping, the active development of marketplaces, and the integration of installment services. Consumers' growing interest in flexible payment methods is also contributing to this growth.

While the search results do not provide specific comparative statistics on the use of interest-free installment plans for smartphones versus other categories through MegaFon, it is worth noting that smartphones typically see greater usage of installment plans due to their higher cost and consumer demand.

MegaFon's financial partner for this service is the financial service "Mokka", which provides the funds for the interest-free installment plan. The option can be found in the "Partial Payment" block or activated in the personal cabinet under "Finances" by clicking on a special banner.

After completing the pilot project and its analysis, MegaFon and its financial partner may expand this option to the entire subscriber base. It is planned to add the ability to top up the balance using "MegaLimit" and to transfer money to a bank card in the future.

Equipment setup, including installing programs and applications on gadgets, setting up smart home devices, and other services, accounts for 4% of partial payments in the region. Accessories account for 11% of partial payments, suggesting that these categories may also benefit from the introduction of BNPL services in the future.

This development is expected to further strengthen MegaFon's position in the digital services market and provide a more convenient shopping experience for its subscribers. For more detailed data on the comparative use of interest-free installment plans for smartphones versus other categories through MegaFon or official insights from their BNPL service analysis, it may be best to consult MegaFon's official reports or press releases directly.

MegaFon users can now make purchases up to 149,000 rubles on the MegaFon online store using the new interest-free installment plan, which is a technology-driven personal-finance service integrated within the MegaFon Life app. This development, a part of the growing Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) trend, aims to offer more flexible payment options and enhance the convenience of digital services offered by MegaFon.
