Microsoft & Adobe Patch Tuesday: Fixes for Critical Security Issues

Microsoft's October 2015 Patch Tuesday addressed a range of critical security issues across several key products. Adobe also released crucial updates for Reader and Flash.

Adobe's updates for Reader and Flash fixed a total of 79 critical security flaws. These updates addressed vulnerabilities that could allow code execution, a serious concern for users.

Microsoft's Internet Explorer faced a critical bulletin (MS15-106) with 14 fixes, seven of which could result in Remote Code Execution (RCE). This bulletin affected all versions of IE from 7 to 11 on supported Windows platforms. Additionally, a Windows shell vulnerability (MS15-109) could be triggered through email or web browsing, leading to RCE.

Office had a bulletin (MS15-110) with six issues, five of which could lead to Remote Code Execution when opening malicious Excel files. Windows also had a bulletin (MS15-111) addressing local privilege escalation vulnerabilities affecting all versions from Vista to Windows 10.

Oracle's Critical Patch Update is scheduled for later in the month, on the 20th. Users are advised to apply the necessary updates to protect against these vulnerabilities and ensure the security of their systems.
