Microsoft Unveils Office Agent, Transforming Productivity with Simple Instructions
Microsoft has rolled out Office 365 Agent, a new feature integrated into Copilot chat, enabling users to generate PowerPoint decks or Word documents with simple instructions. This feature is initially available in the United States for Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and Premium subscribers, with global expansion planned.
Office 365 Agent's introduction coincides with the unveiling of Agent Mode for Microsoft 365 Copilot, enhancing Word and Excel apps. In Word, Agent Mode facilitates conversational document creation, drafting, restructuring, or formatting content with simple instructions. Meanwhile, Excel's Agent Mode has achieved an impressive 57.2 percent accuracy across various spreadsheet tasks, surpassing previous AI-assisted efforts.
Office 365 Agent delivers well-structured content, fine-tunable in collaboration with the user. Agent Mode for Excel is currently available for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users and Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and Premium subscribers. Word integration for Agent Mode is rolling out in stages, starting with the web version, followed by desktop support. Agent Mode in Excel allows users to issue simple prompts for complex tasks, such as data analysis and visualization.
Microsoft's Office 365 Agent and Agent Mode are set to transform productivity for Microsoft 365 users. With initial US rollout complete, global expansion is anticipated. Users can now generate documents and perform complex spreadsheet tasks with simple, conversational instructions, enhancing collaboration and efficiency.
