Milliken's Assure Wins 2025 R&D 100 Award for Eco-Friendly Firefighter Gear
Milliken & Company has been honoured with the prestigious 2025 R&D 100 Award for its innovative product, Milliken AssureTM. The company's president and CEO, Halsey Cook, expressed pride and commitment upon receiving the recognition.
Milliken AssureTM is a revolutionary moisture barrier designed for firefighter protective clothing. It stands out for its lightweight and breathable construction, enhancing firefighters' performance while maintaining rigorous safety standards.
The product eliminates harmful per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and halogenated flame retardants, making it an eco-friendly choice. Despite these innovations, Assure meets crucial NFPA 1971-2018 and NFPA 1970-2025 standards. It is the first non-PFAS, non-halogenated, UL-certified flame-resistant moisture barrier for firefighter turnout gear in North America.
