Millions of Samsung Galaxy Phone Users Now Eligible for Complimentary Service
In a move to compete in the rapidly evolving AI market, Samsung and Google are offering free AI subscriptions to users of select devices.
Samsung's Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 users can now enjoy a six-month free subscription to Google AI One Pro, Google's rebranded AI Premium subscription tier. To redeem this offer, users need to download and sign into the Google One app on their eligible devices. Upon launching the app, a pop-up notification will appear, offering the six-month free subscription. Following the on-screen instructions will activate the free subscription.
This offer represents a significant value, as the subscription normally costs $19.99 per month, equating to a $120 value over six months. The benefits included are access to premium AI tools such as Gemini 2.5 Pro, filmmaking tools, integration with Google Workspace apps, and 2TB of storage.
Samsung, on the other hand, is keeping its AI suite of tools free until the end of 2025, without providing any pricing plans beyond that year. This strategy could be a response to the troubles Apple is facing with launching its personalized Siri, which may have influenced Samsung's (and Google's) decision to offer free AI features.
Google has also expanded this offer to Pixel 9 users, including new video generation features. Meanwhile, Samsung previously gifted a 12-month subscription to Perplexity AI Pro to millions of Galaxy phone and tablet users in the U.S., worth $200.
In addition to the AI subscriptions, Samsung is offering a selection of free subscriptions to Galaxy foldable phone users, including two months of Adobe Lightroom, 50% off LumaFusion video editing, 30% off Arcsite, and 30% off Noteshelf.
It appears that both Samsung and Google are adopting a strategy of offering AI features for free, a trend that could shape the future of AI technology in consumer devices.
