Mobile surveillance cameras of a new type have been set up on roads in Omsk and the surrounding region.
New Mobile Surveillance Units Roll Out Across Omsk Region
Straight-up talk alert!
On May 7, 2025, the Omsk regional Ministry of Transport announced the installation of 22 new mobile photographic and video surveillance units, according to a press release. These units have been deployed on federal, regional roads, and city streets in Omsk itself, as per photos shared. They're now strategically sprawled atop poles, making them less conspicuous from afar, the author suspects.
The contractor, "SpecProject," handled the installation and ensured the devices were running smoothly. By the end of May, an additional 13 mobile units will join the ranks, operating 24/7.
The ministry added that an intriguing twist involves the use of three mobile complexes for patrolling, with vehicles sporting special markings emblazoned on them.
Quote: "Moreover, a notable innovation will be the deployment of three mobile complexes for photographic and video surveillance, positioned in vehicles adorned with distinct markings", the press team shared.
These units will be placed at 133 risky stretches and 11 routes, characterized by high accident rates. By the end of 2025, additional stationary complexes are expected to be put up at 127 high-risk road segments.
Prior to this, "SuperOmsk" published a list of addresses where 155 units would be set up by the end of 2025 (whew, that's a lot of eyes on the road!)
