New Cybertruck Owner Reports Persistent Problems, Hesitant to Send for Repairs Fearing Potential Worsening of Malfunctions

In the heart of sunny San Diego, Sterling, a proud new owner of a Tesla Cybertruck, finds himself at a crossroads. The vehicle, while a marvel of modern engineering, has come with a few unexpected hiccups.

The defects, as Sterling has documented and shared on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, include dents on the bed cover and panel inconsistencies. These issues, while cosmetic for some, bother Sterling due to their obvious damage that was not noticed during the manufacturing process.

The comments on the forum are a mix of opinions, with approximately a 60/40 split in favour of accepting the defects and taking the truck in for repairs. Jay from Atlanta, a Cybertruck owner, advises Sterling to get everything in front of the service center as soon as possible. Ace from Arizona suggests that the tonneau cover slats on Sterling's Cybertruck need to be replaced.

However, Sterling's contemplation is not just about the repairs. He is also weighing the potential outcome of taking the truck in for service, given the negative reviews he has heard about his local Tesla service center. The concerns are valid, as reports of service delays, quality issues, and less-than-ideal service attitudes have been shared by other Cybertruck owners.

Despite these concerns, most forum members advise Sterling to take his truck in for service. The general consensus is that the risks posed by the Cybertruck defects warrant pursuing proper service and repairs rather than accepting flawed and potentially unsafe conditions.

Tesla has agreed to repair the defects at no cost to Sterling. However, Sterling is considering leaving the defects as they are, especially since the Cybertruck was an inventory vehicle and came with one year of charging and premium connectivity.

It's important to note that the Cybertruck has faced several high-priority recalls affecting tens of thousands of vehicles for issues that can affect safety, such as panels detaching while driving and accelerator pedal defects. Ignoring these defects could pose serious risks.

In light of these circumstances, Sterling is encouraged to report his defects to the San Diego Tesla service center to ensure the issues are documented officially. Preparation for potential frustrations, such as researching forums or owner groups for tips on dealing with the local service center, is also advised.

If service center issues become intolerable, escalating through Tesla corporate support or considering using a different Tesla-authorized service location if feasible, could be considered as a last resort.

Ultimately, while the local service experience may be imperfect, the risks posed by the Cybertruck defects warrant pursuing proper service and repairs rather than accepting flawed and potentially unsafe conditions.
