New Performance Patch Released for Borderlands 4, Emphasizing PC as Primary Focus

In the gaming world, Borderlands 4 has been making headlines due to the performance issues that have been plaguing PC players. Gearbox, the developers of the popular game, have stepped up to address these concerns with a new patch.

The update, which went live recently, is being tested at PCG towers. It aims to improve stability and performance, addressing crashes tied to animation states, audio, and collision checks, as well as various GPU-related crashes.

One of the specific issues the patch addresses is a progression blocker in the mission "Talk to Zadra." Previously, if players exited and relaunched mid-dialogue, the objective could fail, causing a frustrating experience. The update also resolves an issue where the Reward Center could stop working after claiming the Gilded Glory Pack rewards.

Moreover, the updated loot pools now ensure that Gilded Glory Pack guns no longer appear in standard chests. This change should provide a more rewarding experience for those who have purchased the pack. Additionally, the update corrects "Doesn't own DLC" warnings incorrectly showing up on non-DLC gear.

The patch notes also mention that a FOV slider option is coming for consoles, which should be welcome news for console gamers.

The performance issues have been a subject of debate, with Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox, suggesting that the problems might be due to low-spec hardware. However, Pitchford has been involved in various arguments regarding the game's performance issues, including claiming that the internet was overblowing things as user reviews tanked.

On the brighter side, Rich Stanton, a games journalist with 15 years of experience who has worked for various outlets, including PC Gamer, has praised Brief History of Video Games, describing it as a "must-read for serious-minded game historians and curious video game connoisseurs alike."

Despite the performance issues, Borderlands 4 currently has a "Mixed" rating on Steam, with nearly every negative review focused on performance issues. However, with the new patch in place, PC players can now hope for a smoother gaming experience.

The Break Free pack of goodies has been released for all players, providing another reason for fans to dive back into the game. As always, Gearbox assures that updating to improve stability and performance is their top priority.
