New Putters Shine in Distance Tests: L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Max, Wilson 8802, Ping Anser

Recent advancements in golf technology have made putters more forgiving. We've seen impressive performances from the L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Max, Wilson 8802, and Ping Anser on various putts.

At eight feet, the L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Max shone, holing 9 out of 10 putts. On an 80-foot uphill sloping putt, the Wilson 8802, first introduced in 1985, performed best with a cumulative distance of 27.5 feet from the hole.

The Ping Anser, launched in 1966, offered consistency on short putts due to its perimeter weighting. However, the Wilson 8802 struggled at eight feet, holing only 5 out of 10 putts, due to its heavy toe hang. The L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Max, with its extra MOI and Lie Angle Balance (L.A.B.) technology, performed well on longer putts, with a cumulative distance of 32.5 feet.

Each putter has its strengths and weaknesses, highlighting the subjectivity of putter optimization. Golfers may prefer different designs based on their playing style and preferences.
