New version of BeagleBone Green, featuring enhanced power management capabilities
The BeagleBone Green Eco, a revised version of the popular BeagleBone Green, has been recently released by Texas Instruments in collaboration with the BeagleBoard.org Foundation. This compact device, measuring 86.4 mm × 53.3 mm, offers a range of features suitable for real-time control tasks and environmental data collection.
At its heart, the BeagleBone Green Eco is powered by the TI-AM3358 processor, an ARM Cortex-A8 clocked at 1 GHz. This processor is supported by an integrated NEON SIMD unit, which accelerates compute-intensive operations. The device also boasts low power consumption, thanks to the TPS6521403 chip from Texas Instruments.
The BeagleBone Green Eco is designed with efficiency in mind. It features a Gigabit Ethernet upgrade for faster data transfers, making it ideal for logging, monitoring, or distributed systems. This speed is further enhanced by its real-time data transmission capabilities via Gigabit Ethernet.
Sensors for temperature, humidity, and fine dust can be easily connected to the BeagleBone Green Eco via Grove ports. This makes it an excellent choice for creating a self-built environmental data collector. The device also offers 16 GB eMMC, four times more storage than the standard model, ensuring ample space for data storage.
The BeagleBone Green Eco's dual PRU-ICSS cores provide predictable low-latency tasks, while its display module control eliminates timing losses. This makes the device suitable for a variety of applications, from real-time control tasks to user interface development.
The BeagleBone Green Eco is shipped with a Debian image, making it easy for users to start working with the device right out of the box. It is available for purchase in the Seeed Shop for $42. For those interested in learning more about the device, datasheets and schematics can be found on the shop page.
In collaboration with Seeed Studio, the BeagleBone Green Eco is now available for those looking to build their own environmental data collectors or explore real-time control tasks. With its efficient design, wide range of features, and user-friendly setup, the BeagleBone Green Eco is a versatile tool for makers and developers alike.
