Nokia Leads in Responsible AI with New Framework and EU Pact Compliance

Nokia, a global leader in telecommunications, has demonstrated its commitment to responsible artificial intelligence (AI) with several significant steps. The company's general counsel, Ingrid Viitanen, has stated that Nokia's dedication to the AI Pact reflects this commitment. Nokia has also established an AI Governance Framework program to strengthen internal AI processes and build stakeholder trust.

Nokia Bell Labs, the company's research arm, has defined six key principles to guide AI research and development. These principles focus on fairness, reliability, privacy, transparency, sustainability, and accountability. Nokia Bell Labs is renowned for its leadership in AI technologies for communication networks and industrial automation.

Nokia has joined the AI Pact, a voluntary framework that helps companies adapt to the European Union's AI Act. The AI Pact enables companies to share experiences, participate in workshops, and prepare for compliance with the AI Act. The AI Act is a binding legal framework that regulates AI systems based on risk levels.

Nokia's commitment to responsible AI is evident in its establishment of the AI Governance Framework program and its adherence to the six principles defined by Nokia Bell Labs. By joining the AI Pact, Nokia is proactively preparing for compliance with the AI Act, demonstrating its dedication to ethical and responsible AI implementation.
