Nordhorn & Grafschaft Bentheim Launch Joint Home Security Initiative
The City of Nordhorn and the district of Grafschaft Bentheim have launched a joint initiative to enhance home security. Since early September, a police information flyer on burglary prevention has been included with every building permit.
Titled 'Secure Living is Plannable', the flyer is a collaborative effort between the City of Nordhorn's Crime Prevention Council, the local police, and the chamber of crafts. The local chamber of crafts covered the costs for the design and printing of the flyer. The initiative was proposed by Police Commissioner Uwe van der Heiden to raise awareness through building ordinance authorities.
Burglary rates in the Grafschaft Bentheim region decreased in 2017, but prevention is still advised due to the psychological impact on victims. The flyer provides practical tips on securing homes, such as installing security fences, using building site doors, and setting up alarm systems.
The City of Nordhorn and the district of Grafschaft Bentheim are committed to promoting home security. By including the police information flyer with every building permit, they aim to educate residents and reduce the risk of burglaries. The initiative is a testament to the collaborative effort between local authorities and the community.
