Nvidia reveals compact 2U RTX Pro 6000 servers at SIGGRAPH, bringing double the Blackwell power to standardized rack-mount enclosures
NVIDIA Introduces Compact 2U RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs
Nvidia has expanded its lineup of RTX Pro servers with the introduction of the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs. These servers, available in 2U rack mounts from Cisco, Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and Supermicro, are designed to house Nvidia's latest datacenter GPU, the RTX 6000 Pro Server Edition.
The RTX 6000 Pro Server Edition, featuring 24,064 CUDA cores, 600W TBP, and a 512-bit memory interface paired with 96GB of 28Gbps GDDR7 memory, is a more affordable alternative to Nvidia's B200 and B300 Blackwell GPUs. The air-cooled design significantly reduces server costs compared to the B200 and B300 GPUs that require liquid cooling, making it a more practical choice for many enterprises.
These servers are expected to deliver up to 45x better performance and 18x higher energy efficiency compared to CPU-only 2U systems, according to Nvidia. The RTX 6000 Pro Server Edition incorporates fifth-generation Tensor Cores, second-generation Transformer Engine (with FP4 support), and fourth-generation NVIDIA RTX technology, enabling significant performance improvements and better energy efficiency.
The GPUs are optimized for on-prem AI workloads, supporting multi-instance GPU capability for flexible partitioning and accelerating AI, data analytics, content creation, scientific simulation, and physical AI workloads in enterprise data centers. With 96GB of GDDR7 ECC memory, 2U mainstream RTX Pro servers with RTX 6000 Pro Server Edition support are expected to be available starting later this year.
The wide OEM ecosystem ensures compatibility with popular rack sizes and enterprise IT infrastructure. Validated 2U server platforms from major manufacturers, including Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Supermicro, and Cisco, will offer seismic shifts from massive, liquid-cooled hyperscale systems to practical, easily deployed on-premises servers compatible with conventional air cooling and power.
In summary, the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs offer a practical, energy-efficient path for enterprises to deploy cutting-edge NVIDIA Blackwell architecture GPUs in standard 2U rack servers, accelerating diverse AI and GPU-accelerated enterprise workloads with reliable, air-cooled solutions.
