OpenAI Launches Sora: AI Video Generation & Social Network
OpenAI has launched Sora, a new mobile app that allows users to generate AI videos and interact with AI-created content in a social network format. Currently in limited release in the US and Canada, the app is designed to foster connections between friends and family.
Sora, developed by OpenAI, is powered by the latest video generation AI model, Sora 2. The app enables users to insert themselves into videos using the 'Cameo' feature with natural language requests. Users can create profiles and interact with AI-generated content as if it were human-created.
The app's interface is reminiscent of X or Threads, with features like subscriber counts and 'likes'. OpenAI is taking a conservative approach to moderation to prevent harmful AI-generated content on the platform.
OpenAI has not yet announced a release date for Sora to the general public. The app is currently available in limited release in the US and Canada. OpenAI aims for Sora to focus on connections between friends and family, setting it apart from other social networks.
