Overa third of Germans express concern over their online activities
In a recent international survey commissioned by consulting firm EY and reported on by the Funke media group, it has been revealed that many users worldwide, including 51% of Germans, often take breaks from the internet due to feeling overwhelmed by the volume of options available.
The survey, which involved 20,000 people across the globe, including 1,000 participants from Germany, suggests a shift in user attitudes towards the internet, with a growing awareness of its potential impacts on time and well-being. This awareness is reflected in the fact that more than one-third of Germans (35%) prefer watching short internet videos over meeting with friends, compared to the international average.
However, it is important to note that the available search results do not provide a precise percentage of Germans who prefer watching short internet videos over meeting friends, nor do they offer a comparison with other countries.
The survey results indicate that Germans are less worried about their internet usage than other countries, with only 28% expressing concern compared to the international average of 43%. This lower percentage of Germans prescribing internet breaks (51%) is also lower than the percentages in Canada (54%) and the USA (53%).
Despite this, the survey results suggest that the flood of internet options may contribute to feelings of being overwhelmed and dissatisfaction among users. This is further highlighted by the fact that a significant number of users are not satisfied with the time they have spent on the internet.
The survey results were weighted accordingly to ensure an accurate representation of the global population. As Olaf Riedel, Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications at EY-Parthenon, stated, "The survey results indicate a growing concern among users about the impact of their internet usage on their time and well-being."
In conclusion, the survey reveals a growing awareness among users worldwide about the potential impacts of the internet on their time and well-being, with Germans being less concerned compared to other countries. However, the preference of short internet videos over socialising among Germans remains an area requiring further research.
- The increased preference of watching short internet videos over meeting with friends among Germans might be a reflection of a changing lifestyle, influenced by the convenience and accessibility offered by technology.
- As more users seek refuge from the overwhelming volume of internet options, the growing need for technology that aids in managing digital lifestyles becomes increasingly apparent.
