Panasonic Connect Announces Formation of Separate Entity for Projector Operations Business
Panasonic and ORIX Partnership Terminated, New Company Established
In a surprising turn of events, the strategic capital partnership between Panasonic Connect and ORIX Corporation, announced in 2024, has been terminated on July 3, 2025. The collaboration, intended to boost Panasonic's projector business and related operations, was aimed at accelerating growth in the professional visual solutions market [1][3][4][5].
Despite the termination, Panasonic Connect and ORIX Corporation are moving forward with a new venture. The new company, established in April 2025, is based on Panasonic Connect's Media Entertainment Business Division (MEBD) [2]. Overseas subsidiaries will be established from the sales functions of the MEBD in North America, Europe, China, Australia, Singapore, and other regions. For the time being, the new company will continue to use the Panasonic name [6].
The new company inherits Panasonic's strong position in the market, having earned the trust of customers around the globe and holding a leading market share in the high-brightness projector market [7]. Detailed control technology for core devices, enabling compact, lightweight, high-brightness, and high-quality projectors, is one of the company's key strengths [7].
The new company aims to leverage Panasonic's technological expertise and customer base, along with ORIX's investment power and business investment experience, to achieve in-organic growth and further market expansion [8]. ORIX will hold 80% of the shares in the new company, while Panasonic Connect will hold 20% [8].
In the current market, the importance of integrating software along with advanced hardware has increased, and significant changes in the competitive environment have arisen due to the emergence of applied technologies and the demand for immersive experiences. The new company will continue to carry the Panasonic brand for target products, ensuring the continuity of the trusted Panasonic brand name in the professional AV and collaboration technologies sector [6].
After the capital partnership, target products will continue to carry the Panasonic brand. Panasonic's commercial projector and display business has launched a wide range of products over the past 50 years, utilising proprietary device control technology [4]. In Japan, Panasonic Connect's Gemba Solutions Company will continue to handle domestic sales [4].
