Persona 3 Reload Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, Launching October 2025
Atlus and Sega have announced that Persona 3 Reload will be released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2, with no plans for the base Switch version. The game is now set to launch in October 2025, following a smooth development process.
Initially, the developers considered a direct port to the base Switch but found it challenging due to performance issues. A complete rebuild of certain game parts was necessary, which would have caused significant delays. Instead, they focused on creating an optimized version for the Switch 2 to ensure stable performance and consistent graphics quality in both handheld and TV modes. The main challenge was to achieve this without pushing back the release by a year.
Atlus had initially hoped to release the game on both Switch consoles simultaneously but found simultaneous development too difficult. They decided to prioritize a Switch 2-only release to meet their goal of an early 2026 launch. However, the development process has gone smoothly, allowing for an earlier release in October 2025.
Persona 3 Reload will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 from October 23, 2025. The decision to focus on the Switch 2 has allowed for an earlier release than initially planned, ensuring fans can enjoy the game without significant delay.
