Polestar 3 Revolutionizes Charging with 800 Volt Upgrade
Polestar has revealed an 800 Volt electrical architecture enhancement for the Polestar 3, poised to transform charging speeds and power output. The upgrade, available as a complimentary retrofit for existing customers from 2026, will initially be purchasable in the UK due to high demand.
The 800 Volt upgrade enables DC charging at up to 350 kW, reducing the 10-80% charge time to just 22 minutes. All Polestar 3 variants now feature a higher-output rear motor and front motor with automatic disconnect functionality, refining driving dynamics.
The new architecture amplifies efficiency by up to 6% according to the WLTP cycle. It also supports integration of new lithium-ion batteries from CATL: 92 kWh for rear motor variants and 106 kWh for dual motor and Performance versions. The upgrade intensifies power, charging speed, and core computer processing power, with the core computing system upgraded to a NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processor, escalating processing power from 30 TOPS to 254 TOPS.
The enhanced Polestar 3, with its bolstered power, charging speed, and efficiency, is set to elevate the driving experience. The complimentary hardware update retrofit for existing customers, commencing in 2026, underscores Polestar's dedication to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
