Polestar 4 Unveils Digital Rearview Mirror for Enhanced Safety and Comfort
Polestar, the electric vehicle (EV) arm of Volvo Cars, has unveiled an innovative feature in its Polestar 4: a digital rearview mirror. This marks a significant departure from the traditional rearview mirror that has been a staple in car design for over a century.
The product manager of the Polestar 4, Ola Aldensjo, has overseen this groundbreaking change. The digital rearview mirror, initially showcased in the Polestar Precept, offers more than just a modern aesthetic. It improves driver visibility and safety by providing a clearer picture of the vehicle's surroundings, even in poor lighting or rain conditions.
The absence of a rear window, replaced by the digital mirror, creates a more spacious and luxurious backseat experience. This innovation is not merely about change for the sake of it, but a meaningful use of technology to enhance both safety and comfort in automotive design. The digital rearview mirror features a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view, displaying real-time information on an 8.9-inch HD display.
Polestar's digital rearview mirror in the Polestar 4 offers a more spacious backseat, improved driver visibility, and a modern touch to car design. This innovation underscores Polestar's commitment to using technology to enhance the driving experience and safety.
