Rockin' Your Cleaning Game: Top-Tier Battery-Powered High-Pressure Cleaners Put to the Test
Portable, Wireless High-Pressure Cleaner with Rechargeable Battery Under Evaluation
Get ready to clean those dirty patios, gardens, and random stuff without being tethered to an outlet! A test carried out by the magazine "Self is the Man" (July 2025 issue) in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland has proved that battery-powered cleaners can deliver impressive results!
But Wait, There's More!
Battery-powered high-pressure cleaners might cost you more than their corded counterparts, but the convenience is worth it. Among these battery-powered machines, there are significant differences in terms of price, weight, performance, and applications.
In the aforementioned test, five out of seven battery-powered high-pressure cleaners received the grade "good." One test device received a "satisfactory" grade, while one model scored a "deficient" grade due to the spray lance being deemed too short by the testers.
Here's the Lowdown
Topping the list were:
- Ego Power+ (56V HPW2000E) with a grade of 1.6 (around 1460 euros)
- Makita (40V, HW001GZ) with a grade of 1.8 (around 890 euros)
- Stihl (REA 100 PLUS) with a grade of 1.9 (around 540 euros)
Two budget-friendly and well-rated devices were also included in the list:
- Stanley Fatmax (V20, SFMCPW1500) received a grade of 2.2 and costs around 600 euros including battery and charger.
- Bosch (Universal Aquatac 36V-100) received a grade of 2.4 and sets you back a total of 440 euros.
The prices for the tested devices varied greatly, with the cheapest costing 130 euros and the priciest around 1,580 euros. The cost includes the high-pressure cleaner, battery, and charger.
Application is Key!
When choosing a cleaner, the field of application matters just as much as the price. The test devices had to clean wheels, remove algae from limestone plates, and clean concrete composite paving covered with lichen. Some machines worked more efficiently than others when it came to lichen removal.
The water pressure among the tested devices ranged from 85 to 200 bar, but the testers noted that the number alone doesn't say much. What truly matters is the area of application and the adjustment options the cleaner offers.
Be Wary of Wood!
When cleaning wood, it's advisable to use a wide flat jet to avoid causing the material to splinter. Some devices offered the option to adjust from point to flat jet for better cleaning results.
If you plan to transport your device frequently, opt for a light and compact model, recommended by "Self is the Man." The weights of the tested models ranged from 1.6 to 22.5 kilograms.
