Potential Alterations for Severance Season 3 Might Suggest a Dramatic Shift, Yet Likely to Remain Familiar

Article Redraft:

Severance season 2 just dropped, and boy did it go out with a bang! The finale, taking almost three years to cook up, was one heck of a ride. The creative team's even dropped a bomb, announcing a third season! We chatted with the show's brainchild, Dan Erickson, and, well, folks, it's time to dissect those sweet spoilers.

But, first, let's talk about what season 3 might bring. In an exclusive with Rolling Stone, Erickson hinted at some major shakeups. So, buckle up. Here's the scoop...with a couple of spoilers, naturally.

Season 1 ended with our four leads, well, rebelling against Lumon. Fast forward to season 2, and they're back, but how? The show beautifully explains the hows and whys, making it a reset.

The season finale sees the remaining innies (Mark, Helly, and Dylan) rebelling again, but now on a far larger scale. They expose one of Lumon's biggest secrets, everything about Cold Harbor, including Gemma Scout's kidnapping, and Mark even takes out one of Lumon's high-ranking executives, Mr. Drummond. Now, how in the world does season 3 pick up after all that chaos?

Erickson, when asked directly about it, shared something fascinating. "We kinda like blowing up the formula at the end of each season and seeing if we can bring it back," he said. "I don't wanna spill too much on season 3, but I will say that we wanted to do something that blew up the world even more than in the first season."

What's intriguing is that Erickson even acknowledges the possibility of the show transforming into "something else." Could it really change form? Or, will it just bounce right back to Lumon's severed floor? The wait for answers is killing us.

We're not sure what the third season will hold, but we've got faith in the team. And, thankfully, we know another season is on its way. Fingers crossed it'll arrive sooner rather than later.

Don't forget to check out our interview with Erickson for more tea. And, by all means, give Rolling Stone's chat a read too. Catch seasons 1 and 2 on Apple TV+.
