Preparation of Approval Process for the Implementation of Solar Technology within the Bodies of Electric Vehicles by Our Organization
In an exciting development, Sono Group, a pioneering organisation in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, is set to debut a patented solar technology in its upcoming Sion model. This innovative technology, engineered to be seamlessly integrated into a variety of vehicle architectures, promises to extend the range, reduce fuel costs, and lower CO2 emissions, contributing significantly to climate-friendly mobility.
The solar technology, a collaboration between Sono Group and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, is undergoing an approval process overseen by a recognised German testing services provider. The project involves testing and approving the solar technology to ensure it meets agreed standards.
Dr. Harry Wirth, Division Director, Photovoltaics Modules and Power Plants at Fraunhofer ISE, expressed his enthusiasm about the potential of solar electricity for low-carbon mobility. Mathieu Baudrit, Head of Research and Development, Solar Integration, at Sono Group, shared similar sentiments, expressing excitement about the collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute.
The solar technology consists of lightweight, highly efficient photovoltaic modules, a control unit, and other system components. These modules are integrated into the bodywork of electric vehicles to supply them with solar electricity. The Sion's solar system can provide an additional range of up to 245 km (112 km on average) per week.
The partnership between Sono Group and Fraunhofer ISE is not limited to electric cars. The collaboration aims to identify other potential areas of application for the solar technology outside of electric vehicles. Sono Group's solar technology can be applied to various types of vehicles, including third-party OEM cars, buses, refrigerated vehicles, and recreational vehicles.
The approval process for this project is typically managed internally by a project manager or coordinator appointed by Sono Group, working closely with Fraunhofer ISE’s project leads. External regulatory approvals, if required, would be handled in alignment with recent European and German legislation that aims to accelerate permit-granting and streamline renewable energy project approvals.
Sono Group N.V. (OTCQB: SEVCF) is on a mission to accelerate the mobility revolution, making every vehicle solar.
