Qatar Launches First Commercial Internet Exchange Point, Boosting Digital Connectivity

Ooredoo Qatar, in collaboration with global internet exchange operator DE-CIX, has launched Doha IX, Qatar's first commercial Internet Exchange Point (IXP). This new platform aims to enhance digital connectivity and support the country's National Vision 2030.

Doha IX serves as a secure, data-center-neutral interconnection hub hosted in Ooredoo's state-of-the-art data center. It enables traffic exchange among regional and global cloud providers, content networks, ISPs, and hyperscale platforms. This setup reduces latency and costs for operators, offering direct access to various cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

The platform optimises connectivity, allowing customers to connect multiple ISPs, CDNs, and cloud platforms via one port, ensuring high performance with low latency. It also provides direct access to premium services like Microsoft Azure Peering Service (MAPS) and verified peering for Google Cloud and Workspace. Thani Ali I A Al-Malki, Chief Business Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, expressed pride in launching Doha IX, highlighting its role in driving Qatar's digital transformation.

Doha IX, Qatar's first commercial IXP, offers a secure, data-center-neutral environment with direct access to global content through a single connection. It supports Qatar's National Vision 2030 by delivering world-class interconnection solutions and driving innovation for businesses in the region.
