Rare, once-made BMW M4 GTS Model Up for Sale at $1 Million Price Tag
The M4 GTS, a standout in recent BMW M creations, is making headlines once again. With only 700 units produced worldwide, the existence of car number 803, located in Orlando, Florida, has long been a point of intrigue.
Launched in 2016, the M4 GTS was BMW M's most extreme interpretation of the F82-generation M4. A total of 300 M4 GTS cars were allocated to North America, including Canada. This limited-production, track-focused special was developed as a modern-day homage to the iconic E46 M3 CSL.
Equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged S55 inline-six engine, the M4 GTS produced 493 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission ensured swift and precise gear changes. To reduce weight and improve aerodynamics, the M4 GTS featured carbon fiber reinforced plastic parts and a lightweight titanium exhaust system.
One of the M4 GTS's unique features was its water-injection system, a technology never before seen on a production BMW. This system helped cool the engine during high-performance driving, allowing for quicker acceleration and improved efficiency.
The M4 GTS had a top speed of 190 mph, and according to BMW, it could go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Independent testing, however, suggested it could be even quicker.
As the years have passed, well-kept, low-mileage M4 GTS examples have become more accessible, with prices ranging from $90,000 to $100,000 by 2022. The first or last example of a limited-production model, however, can command extraordinary prices.
The Orlando listing presents the car as the very last M4 GTS ever produced. The seller is marketing the car as a one-of-a-kind opportunity for collectors rather than a car meant to be driven. Provenance matters as much as performance in the M4 GTS market.
The M4 GTS, initially priced at $134,200 in the U.S., is now being offered for sale at a staggering $1 million. The top speed of the M4 GTS was limited to 190 mph, but the story of 'the last M4 GTS' may be enough to attract a buyer willing to pay a high premium.
The last M4 GTS was built by BMW itself at their production facility in Munich, Germany. The listing invites potential buyers to make their best offer. Whether this rare gem finds a new home remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the M4 GTS continues to captivate car enthusiasts worldwide.
