Introducing Sustainable Food Packaging Solutions: Coveris' MonoFlexBP and Blossom Hill's Innovative Packaging
In a bid to promote more sustainable packaging solutions in the food industry, Coveris and Blossom Hill have introduced innovative packaging options for refrigerated food applications.
Coveris, a leading packaging solutions provider, has unveiled its latest offering - the MonoFlexBP tray. This resealable mono-material tray is designed for fresh produce, prepared foods, foodservice meals, and specifically for the packaging of apricots. The tray boasts an advanced resealing system that allows for multiple reclosures, providing everyday convenience and supporting food waste reduction.
The user-friendly opening and reclosure system, combined with a matt or paper-effect lacquer finish, aims to balance environmental benefits with functionality and shelf appeal. The MonoFlexBP trays are also compatible with existing packaging machinery, ensuring seamless integration for manufacturers.
Blossom Hill, a renowned brand, has adopted a fibre-based, linerless packaging format for its apricots. This eco-friendly packaging solution is a fully recyclable, PFAS-free alternative to plastic clamshells and backing paper. This move is a potential innovation for the food packaging industry, offering a more sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging.
Syntegon, the company that developed the MonoFlex tray package for chilled food, was to be showcased at the Fachpack trade fair in Nuremberg from September 23 to 25, 2021. The solution is ideally suited for processed meats, sausages, dairy products, cheese, and other chilled or refrigerated items. The tray offers excellent sealing performance and reliable re-sealability for multiple uses.
Last month, Coveris launched its MonoFlex Thermoform film packaging for tortilla wraps, a mono-material solution for replacing non-recyclable, mixed material thermoforming substrates while maintaining a long shelf life. The TrayCycle trays, along with the MonoFlex Thermoform film packaging, are likely to be a popular choice among consumers who prioritize environmentally friendly packaging options.
These innovative packaging solutions are steps towards more sustainable packaging in the food industry, reducing plastic waste and promoting a greener future.
