Renault Announces Pricing for Its Electric Vehicle Tribute to Classic Sporty Hatchback
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a mini-supercar that has been making waves in Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and now Australia, is now up for grabs locally through official Renault channels. This electric vehicle (EV) draws on the critical success of the Renault 5 E-Tech and offers a unique opportunity for customers to personalise the exterior and interior livery.
Renault refers to its buyers as 'key partners' in this venture, as customer payments are helping to fund the build of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E. The car boasts a custom-designed aluminium platform, measuring 4080m in length, 2030m in width, and 1380m in height, and an all-carbon superstructure that keeps the weight under 1450kg.
Under the hood, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is powered by two in-wheel motors at the rear, enabling it to sprint from 0-100km/h in under 3.5 seconds. The vehicle's 70kWh battery supports up to 350kW with its 800-volt architecture, and the car develops over 400kW. The standard WLTP range for the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is an impressive over 400km.
Orders for the Renault 5 Turbo 3E have already opened, and each car is numbered, allowing customers to choose a specific car with a 'paying option'. The starting price of this high-performance EV is NZ$305,000. The vehicle is built in limited numbers, with Renault planning to build 1980 examples of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E.
To showcase the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a prototype/show car will go on display at stores across Europe and will appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 10-13 July this year. The car can charge from 15-80% in just 15 minutes, making it a practical choice for those seeking both performance and convenience.
Deliveries of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E are expected to begin in early-2027. For those seeking a unique, high-performance EV with a personal touch, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is a compelling option.
