Revised UAE Golden Visa Regulation: Eligibility Expanded for Indians Without Financial Investments Required
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently broadened the eligibility criteria for its Golden Visa, making it more accessible to a diverse group of individuals, including those in the fields of education, science, healthcare, culture, technology, philanthropy, public service, community contribution, business leadership, and even artists and filmmakers.
Previously, the Golden Visa was primarily open to investors, entrepreneurs, highly skilled professionals, and business leaders. However, the new nomination-based visa policy has significantly expanded the categories of eligible applicants.
Individuals such as scientists, researchers, educators, university faculty, school teachers, nurses with over 15 years of experience, start-up founders, business professionals, YouTubers, podcasters, digital creators, accredited e-sports professionals (age above 25), maritime industry professionals, and luxury yacht owners can now apply for the 10-year visa.
One of the key changes is that the visa is no longer strictly tied to property or business investment. Instead, applicants pay a one-time fee of AED 100,000 (approximately 23.3 lakh INR) to qualify under this new programme.
Applicants must be nominated by a recognised UAE partner and will undergo thorough background checks, including anti-money laundering and criminal record screening.
The visa offers long-term residency for 10 years, renewable, and is part of a pilot programme launched under the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The initial phase is focused on Indian and Bangladeshi nationals, with plans to include other countries later.
Over 5,000 Indian applicants are expected to apply in the first few months of the programme, supported by vetted processing firms like Rayad Group and VFS Global.
This updated Golden Visa aims to attract highly skilled and contributing professionals across multiple sectors, providing easier access without the previous high investment barriers. The visa offers the freedom to live, work, and study in the UAE, and applicants no longer need a trade license to apply for the Golden Visa.
Indians can apply for the Golden Visa based on personal merit, recognition, or contribution in fields such as Education, Science & Research, Culture & Arts, Technology, Philanthropy, and Public service. The new changes to the Golden Visa UAE make it more accessible to Indians who excel in various fields.
