If you've been impatiently waiting for a fresh Note model, Samsung's upcoming Unpacked event could prove intriguing for you.

Samsung Hints at Upcoming Device, Anticipated Return of the Galaxy Note Series

We're yet to receive the comprehensive details about Samsung's upcoming Unpacked event, scheduled for next month. However, there's some exciting news for Galaxy Note enthusiasts. Samsung has hinted at the return of the Note, although it'll be a different device than anticipated.

In a Thursday blog post, Samsung President Dr. TM Roh, who heads the MX Business, announced, "At Unpacked in February 2022, we'll present the most significant S series device we've ever conceived. The next generation of Galaxy S is here, combining the best Galaxy Samsung experiences into a single, ultimate device."

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note in 2011, gaining significant popularity due to its 5.3-inch screen, a size uncommon at the time. As flagship phones expanded in screen size, the Note evolved into Samsung's premium smartphone offering, with top-tier specs and features reserved exclusively for it. (Let's not forget the exploding batteries issue, though.)

Now, Samsung is passing the torch to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, mentioned by Roh at the end of his teaser: "Brace yourself for the ultimate Ultra experience."

Rumors buzz that Samsung might replace the Ultra version of its Galaxy S lineup with a Note-like device, complete with an S Pen slot. While you can obtain S Pen functionality with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, there's no dock for the stylus without investing in bulky additional accessories.

The S Pen isn't the only aspect of the Note that resonated with users. It frequently featured the best cameras among Samsung phones, coupled with a powerful processor and ample space for images and documents. Positioned as a device for power users, it's logical that the Galaxy S22 Ultra (expected name) would take its place, enabling Samsung to streamline its supply chain while tempting you to pay a little extra for superior hardware.

Samsung dropped a few hints about the Ultra's features. It implies ownership of "the night" to capture "the best and brightest photos," suggesting an upgraded image sensor for capturing light. There's a promise of "dominating the day with power," implying a large battery. The smartest Galaxy experience, hinted at, may involve Samsung's announced Home Hub.

These details align with leaked information about the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Leaks indicate a camera array consisting of a 108MP wide-angle primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 10MP telephoto lens with 10x zoom, and a second 10MP telephoto lens with 3X zoom. Other unconfirmed specs include a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 16GB of RAM, and at least 512GB of storage. It is likely to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.

Samsung is accepting reservations for the yet-to-be-named Note-like Ultra starting January 21, before disclosing any further information. For the adventurous, reservations for Samsung's next tablet are also available. Both will be available for reservation on Samsung's website from tomorrow onwards.

The upcoming Unpacked event in February 2022 is expected to introduce the most significant S series device Samsung has ever created, incorporating the best Galaxy features into a single ultimate device. This device, rumored to be the Galaxy S22 Ultra, may potentially replace the Ultra version of Samsung's Galaxy S lineup, offering an S Pen slot like the Note series.
