School Team Qualifies for Drone World Championship in Beijing

In an exciting turn of events, a student team from BGR Grohrmuhlgasse in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, has been invited to participate in two high-profile competitions in Beijing, China, in August 2025.

The first competition, scheduled for August 21-22, is the Aerial Competition, also known as the Drone World Championship. The team's success in the Aerial Junior Challenge within the ECER 2025 in Innsbruck earned them this opportunity to showcase their skills on an international stage. Their victory was a significant achievement, marking them as a force to be reckoned with in the world of drone competitions.

The second competition, set for August 25-26, is the RoboRAVE International, a prestigious robotics competition. The team's participation in this event promises to be another exciting chapter in their journey.

The student team, consisting of Máte Salánki, Sebastian Karaffa, and Philip Hanspeter, all in the 4th grade, expresses gratitude to their numerous supporters for making their trip to Beijing possible. Among the sponsors are Berndorf, the learning square Wiener Neustadt, the Chamber of Commerce, with Andrea List-Margreiter, BECOM, the parent association of BGR Grohrmuhlgasse, the city of Wiener Neustadt, represented by Mayor Klaus Schneeberger, and the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, with Judith Stoll.

Alexander and Christian Filipp, mentors, will accompany the student team on their journey. The team's success in these competitions could potentially open doors to further opportunities and inspire more young minds to explore the exciting world of drones and robotics.

While information about an Austrian student team competing in such events in 2025 is scarce in the available sources, it is clear that this team from Wiener Neustadt is poised to make a significant impact on the international stage. We wish them the best of luck in their upcoming competitions.
