Khan Tengri Innovation Hub Opens Doors to Global Opportunities for Central Asian Startups

The Khan Tengri Innovation Hub, a next-generation technological diplomacy platform, was officially opened in July 2025 in Shanghai’s Zhangjiang Science City, known as Asia’s Silicon Valley. This hub aims to connect startups, innovative companies, and R&D centres from Central Eurasia, particularly Kazakhstan and Central Asia, with China’s high-tech ecosystem.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Kazakh company Growth Vision Pro and received support from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, as well as regional tech parks Astana Hub (Kazakhstan) and IT Park Uzbekistan.

The Khan Tengri Innovation Hub offers a strategic bridge between Central Eurasian tech ecosystems and China’s innovation and investment landscape. It provides a platform for cross-border technology transfer, digitalization, and R&D collaboration. The hub facilitates the entry and growth of Central Asian IT startups and companies into the large Chinese market, offering incubation and acceleration programs.

A key feature of the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub is the "soft landing" model, which eases cross-border market entry for companies. This includes legal, tax, language, marketing, and operational support, as well as assistance in establishing contacts with Chinese investors, accelerators, and production partners.

The hub also serves as a digital diplomacy platform, raising awareness of Central Eurasia’s tech potential in China, promoting regional integration into global innovation ecosystems. It acts as a stepping stone for Chinese technology companies seeking to expand into Eurasian markets via the “Middle Corridor,” a trade route extending to Europe and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The Khan Tengri Innovation Hub offers modern infrastructure including offices, co-working spaces, and serviced apartments within a leading high-tech park in China to foster business development and living convenience. Its educational and acceleration programs are designed for different stages, from initial market study to expansion in China, in collaboration with XNode.

The hub opens access to the world’s largest market, helping to attract investments, find partners, and start exporting technological solutions. It is part of a broader initiative targeting $10 billion in regional technology exports and boosting the number of unicorn startups by 2030, supported by joint acceleration programs and expanding international offices beyond China, such as the UAE.

For many companies, the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub presents an opportunity to grow into a global player. It serves as a platform where companies from Kazakhstan and Central Asia can confidently start and grow their business in China.
