Nissan Ariya Prices Adjusted to Qualify for Electric Car Grant

The Nissan Ariya, a popular electric SUV, is set to reveal its new pricing structure on Wednesday, 13 August. This change comes as the automaker aims to make more of its models eligible for the UK Government's Electric Car Grant (ECG) [1][2][3][4][5].

The ECG, which now includes 13 additional models, offers discounts of either £1,500 or £3,750 to electric cars priced at £37,000 or under, depending on emissions output [6].

Previously, the Nissan Ariya was priced from £39,645, but the updated prices now fall within the ECG threshold. Here's a breakdown of the new prices:

  • Entry-level 63kWh Engage model: now costs £33,500, down from £39,655 (a reduction of about £6,155 including the £1,500 grant).
  • Advance trim (63kWh): starts from £37,500.
  • Evolve trim (63kWh): starts from £42,500.
  • Long-range 87kWh Ariya: now starts from £35,500, down from £44,655 (a £9,155 cut including the £1,500 grant).

Nissan also introduced a new entry-level Shiro variant (67kWh battery) priced from £33,500, which qualifies for the ECG and comes with extra features like ProPILOT assistance and wireless charging [4].

However, the e-4ORCE AWD and Nismo variants of the Ariya do not qualify for the ECG due to their higher prices [3].

Nissan GB managing director James Taylor praised the ECG for prioritizing the uptake of electric vehicles in the UK and providing affordable options to consumers [7].

Meanwhile, other brands such as Renault, Nissan, and Vauxhall also have models eligible for the ECG. The Vauxhall Frontera Electric is priced at £22,495, while the Vauxhall Corsa Electric is priced at £26,005. The Citroën e-C5 Aircross costs £32,565, and the Citroën e-C4 X costs £27,215 [8][9][10].

The Renault Megane costs £30,995, and the Renault 4 costs £25,495. The Citroën e-C3 Aircross costs £21,595, and the Citroën e-C3 costs £20,595. The Citroën e-Berlingo costs £29,740, and the Vauxhall Combo Life Electric is priced at £30,690 [11][12][13][14][15].

The Alpine A290 costs £32,000, and the Vauxhall Grandland Electric is priced at £35,455. The Vauxhall Mokka Electric is priced at £31,005, and the Astra Electric is priced at £33,505 [16][17][18][19].

These price adjustments aim to make electric vehicles more accessible and economical for consumers in the UK, aligning with the government's goal of promoting the uptake of electric vehicles.
