Significant Economy Event in Omsk Region Discussed by Hocenko (Relating to PMEF)
On the verge of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Vitaly Khotchenko, the regional governor, delivered insights on the forum's impact last year. Although the exact roster of projects initiated in the Omsk region solely due to the forum isn't openly declared, there's a flurry of substantial infrastructural and economic initiatives brewing in the region.
Khotchenko accentuated the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum as an efficacious platform for negotiations and investment attraction. Over 30 meetings with federal authorities and businesses at the forum in 2024 culminated in 18 agreements worth a staggering 480 billion rubles.
As for the flagship projects, there's the concession agreement for Omsk-Fedorovka Airport's construction, an alliance with Titan Group for small-tonnage chemistry production, and a logistics center by Ozon at the "Sunny" logistics park, with the first phase already wrapped up this year.
An agreement for the construction of a ventilation systems plant "Rusklymat" in the "Avangard" SEZ, the implementation of a greenhouse complex by the "Rost" group, the launch of a metal construction and bitumen terminal with "Stroytrast" company, and the establishment of the "1C Technologies Center" at OmGTU, mark other significant undertakings. The center for digital training is already operational, poised to absorb around 300 specialists in the 2025/2026 academic year.
Construction of the Center for High-Tech Prosthetics in Omsk is underway, made possible by an agreement between the Omsk region, the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund, and the Central Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, signed at SPIEF. Last year, the region also witnessed the consideration of 32 investment projects worth over 700 billion rubles.
Looking forward, the Omsk region delegation is all set to partake in the upcoming SPIEF-2025, starting this week on June 18, with the objective of inking new agreements that will propel the region's growth.
In a broader context, the Omsk region stands to prosper as a premier logistical, educational, and energy hub through ongoing large-scale projects such as the modernization of river transport along the Irtysh River, cross-border educational exchanges, and pipeline infrastructure expansion. The proposed branch of Kazakh National University in Omsk, the Irtysh River multimodal corridor, and the potential expansion of pipeline infrastructure between Russia’s Urals region, Omsk, and Kazakhstan, are particularly significant for strategic regional development. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on Omsk's dynamic transformation!
