Sling TV Introduces One-Day Subscription Option
Sling TV, the popular streaming service, has announced the launch of short-term subscription options aimed at offering users greater flexibility and control over their viewing experiences. The new offerings, named Day Pass, Weekend Pass, and Week Pass, provide access to Sling TV's Sling Orange channel lineup without the need for a monthly subscription.
Key Details and Features
- Day Pass ($4.99): This pass grants 24 hours of unlimited access to 34 Sling Orange channels from the moment of purchase. Ideal for watching single events like the Super Bowl, award shows, or binge-watching for a day.
- Weekend Pass ($9.99): Provides access from Friday through Sunday (3 days) to the same 34 Sling Orange channels. Perfect for weekend sports events such as football games, award shows, or extended weekend viewing.
- Week Pass ($14.99): Offers a full 7-day access window to these channels, suitable for longer sports events like playoffs, TV show binge sessions, or family entertainment during school breaks.
Channels Included
The passes provide access to the core Sling Orange lineup channels such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, TNT, TBS, Disney Channel, CNN, Comedy Central, A&E, History Channel, and more (34 channels total).
Add-Ons
Optional "Extras" bundles can be added to any pass at a small additional fee:
- $1 for a Day Pass
- $2 for a Weekend Pass
- $3 for a Week Pass
Extras include categories like Sports Extra (additional sports channels), Kids Extra, and News Extra, allowing customization without full subscription commitment.
Limitations
These passes are only available for the Sling Orange package; there are no short-term passes currently for Sling Blue or other bundles. Access starts immediately upon purchase and applies for the duration of the pass (24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days).
Target Audience
This new model targets viewers who want event-driven or casual viewing without paying monthly fees and suits fans of sports, award shows, and limited binge-watching needs by offering more control over streaming costs.
In summary, Sling TV’s short-term passes offer flexible, affordable access to popular live TV channels for a day, a weekend, or a week, with optional channel extras for an even more tailored experience. The passes also highlight the flexibility of streaming vMVPDs like Sling and YouTube TV compared to traditional pay TV operators, which often require equipment installation and long-term contracts.
